What is Cobb?

Cobb is basically a barbecue. It comes standard with a grill rid on which you can grill meat, fish or vegetables. But you can do more with it. With various optional barbecue accessories you can expand your possibilities. For example, you can grill, bake, roast, stir-fry and smoke with the Cobb barbecue. Here's how!

Grilling
With the Cobb BBQ you can grill anything right at your table!
You can use the grill grid, but for the best grill result you can use the Griddle+ Plus. The Griddle+ Plus distributes the heat more evenly and your meat, vegetables or fish will have beautiful grill stripes.

Baking
Use the bread pan to bake. Ideal for dishes such as pizza, pancakes or fried eggs. For baking bread, cake, pie or cupcakes use the grill rid in combination with the fenced roast rack and the dome cover. This allows hot air to circulate like in an oven.

Roasting
With the dome cover, you can use the Cobb barbecue as an oven. To roast, use the grill rid, turning the food over on the griddle constantly. You can also place the fenced roast rack grid on the grill rid. This allows more space between the heat source and the dish to circulate and you do not have to turn over your food constantly. Roasting time depends on weather conditions, but take the cooking time of a traditional oven as a starting point.

Stir-frying
You can stir fry with the wok deep dish, which is specially made for the Cobb BBQ. Make a delicious paella, noodles or another wok dish. You can also use the wok deep dish as a skillet or saucepan. Also handy for camping or on the boat!

Smoking
A special experience is smoking with your Cobb. You can turn the Cobb in a great smoker. Smoking is easy with a handful of charcoal briquettes (of compressed wood) that you put in aluminum foil on the Cobble Stone. Always use the dome cover when smoking food.

How does the Cobb work?

The juices and fats from the food that is released during cooking is collected in the moat of the Cobb and does not end up in the fire. This prevents flare-ups and excess smoke. Cobble Stones are specially designed for Cobb. With the Cobble Stone, the Cobb is hot and ready for use in just a few minutes. Another special feature: the base of the Cobb remains cool to touch during use.

Which fuel do you use?

The Cobble Stone
Cobble Stones are Cobb’s own charcoal briquettes which made them the ideal fuel source. Cobb Cobble Stone is economical and is made of natural materials. The stone ensure that your Cobb is ready to use within minutes of lighting. It has a built-in firelighter, so you do not have to use firelighters or fuel. Therefore, Cobbble Stones are safe to use. Handy right? Note: light the Cobble Stone outdoors, for it may develop some smoke in the first few minutes. The Cobble Stone is hot within minutes and is virtually smoke-free after ignition. It gives up to 2 hours cooking pleasure and maintains a constant temperature. The Cobble Stones are wrapped individually, airtight, and packed in a box of six and therefore are easy to move around.

Lighting the Cobble Stone
Place the Cobble Stone in the fire basket and light it. After about three minutes, the Cobb is up to temperature and ready to use. The Cobble Stone then no longer emits odor and smoke.

What do you need to know when you get started with the Cobb?

  • Check before use that the 3 rubbers grommets in the Cobb ring are in the right place. Pay attention! These rubbers are not packaging material, but part of the Cobb!
  • Only put on the grill grid or other Cobb accessory on top of the Cobb once the flames have disappeared and the Cobble Stone is grey in color. To prevent overheating of the dome cover and handle, never place the dome cover without the grill rid or a COBB accessory on the Cobb. After grilling, remove the grill rid or other Cobb accessory and the cover dome from the Cobb. Please note: light the Cobble Stone outdoors, for it may develop some smoke in the first few minutes.

How the Cobb works

The Cobb consists of a stainless steel moat (bowl), which hangs in the base unit with the help of rubber grommets. The moat gets hot during cooking, but thanks to the rubber grommets, the surrounding base stays cool. Since the base unit does not get hot, you can place the Cobb anywhere. Furthermore, the base has anti-slip rubber feet which allows the Cobb to remain stable. The feet are made of soft rubber so that they do not damage the surface.

At the bottom of the moat there is a ring, where the removable fire basket sits. Place the Cobble Stone briquette or barbecue briquettes in the fire basket and then place the the grill rid or griddle on top of it.

You can close the Cobb with the dome cover during cooking. It is made of stainless steel and has a heat-resistant handle. The dome cover ensures that the Cobb is energy efficient: little heat is lost. The holes in the dome cover ensure even ventilation inside the Cobb throughout the cooking process.
